Children and Young Peoples Strategic Partnership

The Children and Young People’s Strategic Partnership (CYPSP) is a multi agency partnership that includes the leadership of key statutory agencies and community and voluntary organisations that have a responsibility for improving the lives of children and young people in Northern Ireland. Chief Executives represent statutory agencies on the partnership and an open call ensured senior representation of organisations from the community sector and voluntary sector. The fact that agencies have assigned membership of the partnership to Chief Executives helps decisions to be made across agency.

The CYPSP met for the first time in January 2011 and we decided that the most important aspects of our work were to focus on the outcomes for children and young people and the action that will improve these outcomes. This is achieved by combining leadership at a senior level with a community development approach and using information and evidence available across agencies and within communities to inform the decision making. The participation of children and young people and their families is vital to this approach and the CYPSP ensures that they are involved in the planning process.
